From 2009-2012, the firm worked directly with builders in the Local Energy Efficiency Partnership and Technology Adoption Pilot (LEEP/TAP), with funding from CANMET Energy and the Ontario Power Authority. The program brought together builders to review a wide range of emerging energy efficient technologies, and provided an opportunity for the builders to try the innovative technologies. Through LEED/TAP, Lio & Associates worked with builders to increase their energy efficiency through the adoption and demonstration of the identified new technologies in 40 test houses. These new technologies included advanced windows, exterior wall insulation, HRVs, combo space and water heating systems, ground source heat pumps, underslab insulation, tankless water heaters, and ICFs. Lio & Associates oversaw the regional teams, ensured the milestones were met and a common approach to engagement was undertaken, and Lio & Associates continually met with the client to ensure satisfaction with progress.
