From 2002 to 2009, Lio & Associates led the Building Canada team to assist some of Canada’s largest builders in improving building performance and reducing construction time and cost. Building Canada was a federally sponsored initiative intended to assist builders to improve the performance of their houses by drawing efficiencies from operations, and reducing construction costs and defects. For many builders, investments in improved building performance were more than offset by savings from operational and construction improvements. Building Canada houses have been built in Toronto and Halifax. In a number of cases, the team successfully reduced the cost of an R-2000 upgrade to zero.
